How to Receive Emergency Alerts and Outage Communications
The Board of Public Works uses multiple methods to keep customers informed when outages occur. Our goal is to provide timely, accurate updates so you always know what is happening in your area.
Electrical Outages
SmartHub Notifications
Customers who are registered with SmartHub and have notifications enabled will automatically receive updates about outages affecting their account. These notifications may include outage confirmations, updates, and restoration information.
Social Media Updates
When a larger number of customers are affected, we share outage information and updates on our Facebook page. This helps keep the community informed about widespread outages, estimated restoration times, and crew activity.
Outage Map
Customers can view current outage information anytime through our online outage map. The outage map provides a real-time view of reported outages and affected areas, allowing you to check the status of service in your location.
Water Outages
Emergency Alert Notifications
Water outage notifications are communicated through emergency alert notifications. Messages are delivered by phone call, text, and email. Customers do not need to register to receive these alerts.
To ensure you receive water-related emergency notifications without delay, it is important that your contact information is accurate and up to date in our system. Customers should review and update their phone number, email address, and mailing address anytime there is a change.
You can keep your information current by:
- Logging into your SmartHub account and updating your profile
- Calling the BPW customer service office for assistance
- Visiting our office in person to make changes
Keeping your information up to date ensures you receive timely alerts for water outages, boil water advisories, and other important service notifications from BPW.
